The grip is the most crucial element of a successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket to tight or loose, and end up either missing the ball or making an incorrect contact or having the racket break off when they swing at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the proper position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should be curved towards your top. This is called cut shots or high arc. A low arc or hook starts with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will influence the type of shots you need to master.
