Tennis players typically struggle to hit forehands due to the lack of knowledge on how to effectively engage their muscles in order to hit strong forehands. In the same way, tennis players struggle with backhands because they don’t know enough about the proper way to set themselves up to hit a nice backhand down the court. So, these two crucial areas of the game need to be addressed by those who want to be a pro at the game.

A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too tightly or loosely, and end up either hitting the ball too far, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket correctly in the right position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you approach the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is referred to as cut or high arc shot. A low arc or hook will begin with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will determine what type of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally shift towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

You can achieve this by placing the racket in front of your skull, keeping your knees bent and your elbows locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket in front of their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a right-handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will prevent the over-the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t allow any side of your body too much space.
