A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and end up missing the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best opportunity to hit the ball accurately every time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you get closer to the top end of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is called a high arc or cut shot. A hook with a low arc will have an natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the kind of shots you should be practicing. If you’re practicing the bank shot technique the forehand swing course will naturally curve towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball while your arms are free to move. Remember that your shoulders should never leave the socket or your tennis racquet during your swing. If this happens, it will be very difficult to take the ball back.
When you are approaching the ball, ensure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. Rotating your arms to your side can actually reduce your power and your ability to generate power. In order to get your arm to move properly, you must be able to grip the club. Having a weak grip can be dangerous since it could cause you to miss the ball or it could cause you to extend your arm. This can lead to injuries.
The angle of your stance is also an important aspect to ensure a good grip. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and wear their right hand slung across the body. The left arm of beginners is usually slung over their body. The majority of coaches advise using a neutral grip or a style similar to a baseball grip. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.
Tennis players that have an open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. A great solution to this issue is to hold the racket using an even grip. Closed grips are ideal for tennis players who have an open forehand. This can be done by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
