These two areas are vital to the game and need to be addressed.
A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and end up missing the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you approach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should be curved towards your top. This is known as cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low arc would have an natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots that you must be learning. If you are practicing the bank shot technique, your forehand swing is likely to curve towards the top as it gets closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball when you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are in constant contact with your ball which allows your arms to move freely. When you move your arms, your shoulders should not leave the racquet’s socket. If this happens, it could be very difficult to catch the ball.
When you approach the ball, ensure that your arm is directed from your side and not to your backside. Rotating your arms to your side can actually reduce your power and ability generate power. You must have a strong grip to control your arm’s movement. A weak grip can result in injuries. It can cause you miss the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injuries.
The angle of your stance is an important aspect to ensure an effective grip. Tennis beginners are typically right-handed and have their right hand slung across the body. The left arm of beginner players is often carried over their body. Most coaches recommend using a neutral grip or in a similar way to a baseball position. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehands tend to have problems with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand, they tend to over-turn their wrists and not have a proper grip. This problem can be solved by holding the racket with an upright grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand must try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket in front of your skull, with your knees bent and your elbows locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant handed should swing the racket above their head and above their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if an right-handed player and the racket should be pointing towards your waist if you’re left handed. This will prevent the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t allow any side of your body too much space.
