Most often, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they don’t know how to engage the correct muscles for their forehands and in the right order to hit powerful forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with backhands due to the fact that they don’t know enough about how to properly position themselves for a great backhand down the court. So, these two crucial areas of the game need to be addressed by those who wish to be successful in the sport.
A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up not hitting the ball, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off while they are swinging at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is referred to as cut or high arc shot. A low arc or hook will begin with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you must be learning. If you are practicing the bank shot technique the forehand swing path will naturally curve toward the top as it gets closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are in constant contact with your ball and allow your arms to swing with ease. While you move your arms, your shoulders should not leave the socket of your racquet. If this happens, it can be very difficult to capture the ball.
When approaching the ball, ensure that your arm is pointing towards your side, and not to your backside. Rotating your arms to the side could decrease your power and ability generate power. To get your arm to rotate properly it is essential to have a strong grip on the club. A weak grip can cause injuries. It can cause you miss the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injuries.
The angle of your stance is also an important factor in ensuring an effective grip. The majority of tennis players are right handed and have their right arm slung across their body. The left arm of newbies is often slung across their body. Most coaches suggest holding the club with a neutral grip, or in a similar way to a baseball posture. Holding the club in a neutral posture will help prevent you from having an arm that is not dominant during your swing.
Tennis players that have an open stance forehand tend to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand, they are more likely to turn their wrists and not have a proper grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket using an even grip. Closed grips are best for players with an open forehand. This can be accomplished by placing the racket on your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players that have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulder. If you’re a left handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should be facing towards your waist. This will help prevent either the swing that is over the head or the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure you don’t allow any side of your body too much room.
